Find a Student Job
Working during your studies can have its perks—as long as it doesn't keep you from studying! You can:
- make some money
- pay for school
- gain experience
- boost your resume
- hone your skills
- get to know the job market
Six Tips for Finding a Summer Job
- Start early. Employers have a good idea of their needs as early as the beginning of April.
- Make the most of your network of contacts (parents, friends of the family, parents of friends, local shop owners, etc.). Don't forget: 80-90% of available jobs never get advertised
- Look in fields that interest you.
- Play up your talents and skills and stay a step ahead.
- Ask yourself about your interests: Do you want to work with the public or not? In an office or outside? Are you willing to travel? Etc.
- Put your best foot forward:
- have a positive attitude
- be dynamic
- speak clearly
- listen attentively
- ask questions
- demonstrate self-confidence
- show interest and a willingness to learn
- talk about your strengths and accomplishments
- know your interviewer's name
